HOW TO SUPPORT THE STRIKES
Join a picket.
Picket lines aren't just for striking staff - you can join in solidarity too. Feel free to make a sign or a placard if you want to, but you can show up without and still be welcomed.Contact university management.
Email your Vice Chancellor and let them know that you want them to resolve the dispute with UCU by ensuring staff have fair pay, pensions, and working conditions. They rely on you blaming staff instead of blaming them for putting staff in this position - don't let them get away with it!Don't cross the picket line.
Even if you don't want to or can't join the picket line in person, you can show support by refusing to go in to university during the strike date.Let staff know you support them.
Striking staff are dealing with a lot of frustration and negative messages right now. Letting them know that you support them can mean a lot.Talk to other students.
Making sure your coursemates and other university friends understand what's happening is key. Even just sharing this resource can help!Share support online.
Whatever your social media platform of choice is, you can use it to call on your university to give staff fair pay, working conditions and pensions. You can also post solidarity and support (and share this resource!).If you're following the campaign on social media, be sure to check out #UCURising, #UCU, and #OneOfUsAllOfUs - the official hashtags of the campaign.
